O'Reilly

The Problem

The progression of the internet is rapidly moving from static HTML pages to a more streamlined and engaging multimedia experience, focusing on the end-user experience while moving away from server side pushed content. O’Reilly recognized the popular selling book was quickly becoming out of date by not offering the reader all the tools necessary to create web sites which meet current web standards and utilize the most widely accepted best practices and use rich internet products and solutions.

The Solution

O’Reilly needed to add an entire Chapter on the products and solutions being used today by the largest and most visited sites on the internet. They needed an author with several years experience in documenting and writing on the most cutting-edge and widely accepted practices being used on the internet. Knowing that Mindgrub Technologies are recognized experts in using many rich multimedia applications, especially the Flash Platform, O’Reilly came to us to write the chapter on "The Flash Platform," which describes the latest releases of Macromedia/Adobe Flash, Adobe Connect and FLEX applications.

The Results

O’Reilly recognized the importance of selecting an author who was not only an expert in multimedia applications but one who is well known in the Flash community since the initial release. In early 2006, the third edition of “Web Design in a Nutshell” was released with an additional chapter called “The Flash Platform” written entirely by Mindgrub Technologies.

Web Design in a Nutshell (3rd Edition) is one of the most widely used books on designing for the web and has been highly recommended and rated on many online bookstores throughout the world.

In 1999, the initial release of “Web Design in a Nutshell” by Jennifer Niederst Robbins takes the reader from basic HTML to creating and integrating some very new and simple techniques such as JavaScript and CSS. This book, however, only discussed web solutions and techniques that were available at the time of printing.
