Twin Tech III
January 23rd, 2009 — Todd
A bunch of us from Mindgrub attended Twin Tech III, an event that we sponsored. It’s been a very popular event for the past two years and ended up selling out with more than 2,000 RSVPs this year. The event was held at the Lux Lounge, a posh club in DC, and the turnout was unbelievable. All three floors of the Lux Lounge were swarming with technology-minded business people from various states trying to do or find business. As a gold sponsor, Mindgrub had marketing rights and a table at our disposal. At first we thought that we would’ve gotten just as much publicity by simply showing up and not making use of a small table and a couple of flyers and banners, but we were very wrong. Our enormous banner drew a lot of attention, made us easy to spot and started several wonderful conversations. So did the flyers we posted on all floors about our Bring in the New Year Raffle. Project Manager Vince Buscemi’s business cards even drew a couple of Ellicott City local businessmen to our table. I didn’t even have to make rounds – people practically lined up in front of our table to hear more about the work Mindgrub has been doing with social media, web-based training, location-based services and experiences, and so on. Vince spent a lot of time at the table making conversation, although he and Jessica, part of our marketing team, made several rounds through the crowd distributing raffle tickets and making conversation. I ended up having several great conversations about our progress with new projects such as the Edualizer and older projects such as USAVotes2008 and EdInfo with lots of like-minded people from all ends of the business spectrum.
This was the big event at which we handed out raffle tickets for our Bring in the New Year Raffle. We’re raffling away a Mac Mini, a Nintendo Wii, an iPod Nano, and a Best Buy, iTunes, and restaurant gift card. Everyone who doesn’t win one of these prizes is awarded a percentage off of Mindgrub’s services for the year of 2009, so it’s impossible to lose. We’re giving away raffle tickets at other conferences and events, too, so the drawing won’t be until early February. Although we won’t be announcing winners until then, I can tell you that someone has already entered the winning number for one of the prizes. Make sure you show up at one of the events at which we’re handing out raffle tickets for your chance to win! We’ll be distributing them at DC’s Social Rockstar event January 29th, NY’s Tech Meetup February 3rd and at Ignite Baltimore on February 4th. For a complete list, go to www.mindgrub.com/raffle.
All in all, Twin Tech III was a huge success. What a great event for marketing, networking, employer/employee searching, relaxing, etc. I was blown away by the turn-out and am sure many wonderful business relationships will come from the event.
