Freddie Ephraim and Mike Laroque of SpotWash holding the $100,000 check.

BALTIMORE, MD, MAY 9, 2019 | Mindgrub is thrilled to congratulate SpotWash, a Mindgrub portfolio company, on being awarded $100,000 in seed money by the Abell Foundation at the eighth annual AccelerateBaltimore Investor Pitch Night.

SpotWash is an app-based mobile car wash and detail service that allows tenants in partnered apartments and offices with parking garages to have their car washed while they work or sleep. Focused on being environmentally-friendly, SpotWash’s washing and detailing process is almost completely waterless and uses an eco-friendly solution that’s as good for the environment as it is for your car.

In the 13 weeks leading up to the April 18th pitch, SpotWash took full advantage of all the resources provided by the Emerging Technology Centers, which included resources, executive mentors, pitch development coaching, and networking.

“I couldn’t be more proud of Mike and Freddie,” said Mindgrub’s Chief Business Officer, Vincent Sharps. “I’ve said from the beginning that these two would do big things. We can’t wait to see where they go from here.”

Using their winnings (and some help from the Mindgrub team), SpotWash unveiled the second version of their mobile app and saw a massive jump in usage. Now in over 40 locations, SpotWash plans to expand to over 100 locations in 2019. Co-founders Freddie Ephraim and Mike Laroque are thrilled with their growth and have big plans for their next big step: unveiling SpotWashGo!, a refuel delivery add-on.
